T21Collective
The only Regional Hip Hop Youth Dance Company has been established this year by Vikkie! T21Collective is the ultimate street dance crew of the South East for both male and female dancers.
The dancers are selected from all the TRUE STYLES street dance classes to join their skills together and perform across the country.
T21Collective have created their first set ‘Nightmarez’ and it was premiered in Dover town centre in August 2009.
Future performances will include the T21show ‘Raise Da Roof’ on Saturday
14th November and there will be many more to follow!
If you want to be part of the T21Collective all you need to do is get yourself down to your local TRUE STYLES sessions and show your dedication, positive attitude and serious skills! For all classes please see the class listings. The group will be reselected for every set so don’t worry if your not in this one…keep working hard!
NoCo
Now in its sixth year, NoCo represents one of the most innovative street and hip hop youth companies in the region. The company is managed by Hampshire Dance and meets weekly at The Vyne School in Basingstoke during term time. The company is open to young people between 13-21 years who live in Hampshire. The dancers are chosen from auditions, which take place each year at the end of June.
Vikkie is the Rehearsal Director for NoCo and has been working with the group since September 2006 on a weekly basis to develop their hip hop & street dance skills, strength and performance of choreography. In 2007 Vikkie created ‘Rhythmic Rhapsody’ with NoCo and this was performed across the south including the 2008 National Youth Dance Festival at the Peacock Theatre in London.
Each year the company work with one or two professional guest choreographers during the half - terms. This autumn NoCo will be working with the internationally renowned Tony Adigun of Avant Garde Dance. Previously commissioned artists include top hip hop based artists Kenrick ‘h2o’ Sandy (Boy Blue), Hakeem Unibodu (Impact Dance) Jake Nwogu, Kofi Mingo & Irven Lewis. This autumn will see the commission of Kofi Mingo from Boy Blue who has performed in TAG Me Vs The City (Jonzi D production), and was featured on the latest George Michael video ‘Out with the freaks”. Top hip hop & street dance artist to be commissioned for 2009 will be revealed soon!
NoCo’s performance credits include Breakin’ Convention, National Youth Dance Festival, Cutting Through - South East Regional Youth Platform, Shake the Room at The Haymarket Theatre, Hothouse at The Point, Eastleigh and many other local performances.
FUNKSTARZ
Funkstarz was established in 2006 through the joint vision of Vikkie Steege and JP Omari. The group aims to push the boundaries of Hip Hop dance choreography to develop innovative and interesting work.
The group was auditioned each year and was open to male and female dancers aged 14-21years based in Brighton & Hove.
Funkstarz performance credits include Breakin’ Convention, Shake the Room at The Haymarket Theatre, Stright Up at The Old Market and many other local performances. Sadly Funkstarz has now finished- but it was a great 3 years!
